How to get RSSI from all APs around?

Hey, everyone. Is there anyone who knows how to obtain RSSI from all APs around? In /proc/net/wireless, there is only RSSI from the associated AP. However, I know STA can obtain RSSI from beacon without association. So is there anyway to obtain RSSI from all APs around (also with corresponding SSID/BSSID)? I want to use all of them to implement a WIFI locationing system.

Thanks!

Something like "iwlist wlan0 scan" would show you the signal quality for all of the APs in the area, is that what you're looking for?

Thanks for MS3FGX's kind answer.
Ye, from script command you can do it. However, if I write a program, is there any API to do it? I do not what to do process switch every time to issue a command like "iwlist intf scan". Function call will be much cheaper and fast .....
