I live on campus and am using a wireless router without encryption (it's bridged) to connect to the internet the desktop I have connects via cat5 cables and and does so fine, but the laptop I have has problems getting an IP address>.< I have the wireless pcmcia card working by Ndiswrapper

When I run kwifimanager It lists the correct network I'm on with a strong connection, but the "local IP unavailable" and "Encryption Active:
Sorry it's so long winded but I really don't know what I'm doing and want to be as thorough as possible
It took me 4 days to get the lights on the card to come up
using the Ndiswrapper and the windows driver. Also this card works and gets on the router through windoze
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
