Fedora 8 Intel PW 2200. Works "live" but not with full install......

I'm attempting to connect wirelessly with an Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 under Fedora 8. Strangely enough the card worked perfectly "out of the box" when booting from a "live" CD - icons popped up, networks were detected and I connected very easily. Excitedly, I downloaded the full DVD iso and installed the full distribution only to find that my card is not recognized. How could this be? I've been doing some research and found enormous amounts of (sometimes conflicting) info telling me I might have to do any or all of the following:- install driver software, install firmware, recompile the kernel, edit configuration files... Coming from the relative comfort of Windows this is all very scary...

Discuss.

It's possible that during the install, you deselected the package that installs the driver for your wireless card.

Pop in your DVD of Fedora 8, go to Applications<Add/Remove Software. On the new window, go to Base System<Hardware Support and make sure the box is ticked and go to optional packages. Find your wireless card, it's labeled as ipw2200-firmware. If it isn't ticked, tick it. Apply the changes and let it install. Do a reboot and it should pick the card up.
