Encryption problems

I have a Netgear WGT624 router and a D-Link DWL-AG650 card to my laptop. I wanted to try to use encryption. I chosed WEP with a 32-character long key. When I applied it I lost connection, as expected.

Now I don't know how to change to encryption on my laptop. Remember that I am totally new to wlan and don't know much about how this works.

The router has a browser based interface. You will probably need to connect to the router directly (i.e. plug a network cable into the back) to be able to configure the router. This is to prevent just anyone connecting to the router and configuring it on you.

You will need to provide more information on the DWL-AG650 card. Are you using the Madwifi drivers? What controller chip does it use? Do you have 'wireless-tools' installed?

I have read the manual for it. :P I have already changed so the router uses a encryption.

I use madwifi and ndiswrapper. I have wireless extensions in kernel (built in) and wireless tools 28 pre6. The card has an Atheros chipset.

Code:
06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
