Encryption Error


hi,

i've bin trying to set my Encryption with the folowing command: iwconfig wlan0 key restricted MYKEY89a-9s0d9...
once i press enter i get the folowing:

Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

whats wrong?

Hi, again...
from the iwconfig man page

so you should enter

hehe, howdy. (the Belkin card still dont work, last night i decided to install linux on my laptop, it has a bilt in wlan card Airforce One 54g. which seems to work......

Ye i tried that too, i get the same error :

Im such a pain in the ass, inint?

Try without the restricted keyword never used it myself so I dont think you need it either...dont forget to crosss fingers why not try the suse gui tools?

still the same...... erm, gui tools, hmmm. im not that familiar with suse, used onece before, besides since i installed it(yesterday). Could you be more specific in what type of 'tool' to use??

I only used the live demo once...so I really dont remember...look for something called network or system settings or something like that in the menus...

i found kNetworkManager, seems to be ok, tryin to connect to my wireless right now. all should be revield in a few min......

its found my network but it wont connect..... it cant find the ip, subnet mask or broadcast. Could i possibly modify them options manually? if so do you know in what file? at least in what dir.

huh?

do u know where the iwconfig file is stored?

it help quite a bit, but not quite to the end of it. ha.......when connecting to my nework it shows it in % as in 32% found AP, 56% configuring ip. before it went to like 32% but now it goes more, so something did help. ill play around with them settings, should get it workin by tonight. im off to the shop, need nicotine! hopefully ill come back, wave my 'Magic Wan' and all will work
