Hi all,
I have been using my Netgear MA 111 USB with prism 2 chip set and wlan-ng on a 2.4.x kernel for quite a while with standard WEP 128 Bit encrpytion. Since it is easy to be broken with a little time and the right tools and I am rather paranoid
I am currently using OpenVPN over my Home WLAN to obtain additional protection.
It it set up like this currenty:
- Server connects to DSL WLAN router via WLAN using standard WEP 128bit encryption
- On the ethernet port of this DSL router I installed an additional little debian box that terminates the OpenVPN tunnel from the server on his ethernet interface that is connected via cross cable to the DSL router Ethernet port.
- After the traffic is received from the tunnel and decrypted it is forwarded out of the ethernet port along to the DSL router and then to the internet.
That works but I would like to simplify it without losing security so i could turn off this extra OpenVPN thing and then shut down the debian box or use it for something else.
Now I heard that using WPA with PSK would give enough security so I would be able to skip Openvpn. I have come across a webpage that was about wpa_suplicant which offers per paket rekeying and would be secure enough.
Obviously this supplicant does not provide support for all drivers. Has anybody ever try this with MA 111 USB from Netgear??
Thanx
