dhcp slooooow


hi when i turn on my computer and my gentoo linux start to load when it get to eth0 dhcp it works fine when im connected to a network but when not it takes like 4-5 minutes to realize theres no network and continue how can i reduce this time??

set the timeout lower ..... I'm not sure, look at the /etc/conf/* scripts, or /etc/rc ..... one of those has a options part to pass to dhcpcd .... read the commands info page to find out what option will change the timeout time, then just add it in the script, and uncomment the line (if it isn't already)
