Debian Distro

hey guys i just have a question. what do you think of debian wireless internet-wise. Im currently using PCLinuxOS 2006. and im using a wirless bridge. but im always on the wrong network and even if im on the right one the internet is very slow. Donlwoading speed 54 kbps upload 10 kbps. Ive heard someting called ipv6 that could cause a problem. So in the terminal i typed ifconfig -a
and it said ipv6 on ipv4. My computer is very old and must be ojn ipv4 but since its on ipv6 it doesn't mesh. So ive tryed all the ways possible by searching to disable it but it;'s still on. I remember a year ago when i only had htis version oflinux. because currently im dual booted with windows xp. in the synaptic package manager there was a package name ipv6. so i downloaded it out of curiousity and that made my internet BETTER. but i reinstalled in again a couple months ago and my internet is still trashy. Please any help with this slow internet problem or if you guys think debian is better because lsat time i tried a pure debian my internet was jus tlike windows, except the version i had was very unstable. would Debian 4.0 (just released) be better. Thank you for you time.

Wireless support doesn't vary much from distro to distro. In fact, it is probably more related to the kernel version you're running than anything. As for IPv6, unless you know you are on an IPv6 network, you really shouldn't use it. It is useless on an IPv4 network, which most everything is. You might want to ask in the Debian forum how to turn off IPv6.

No, Debian is going to work pretty much the same as any other distro when it comes to wireless. You might be able to apt-get some drivers as opposed to compiling from source, but that would be about the extent of Debian being different from other distros.
