The 520+ (note the plus sign!) uses the unreliable and poorly documented Texas Instruments ACX100 chipset. I recommend you get rid of the card and get a prism2/prism2.5 or Orinoco/Lucent based card instead since they are well supported in Linux.

I had a DWL-650+ which uses the same chipset. I had some success getting online with it using the instructions and files from acx100.sourceforge.net, but I still won't recommend it to anyone. I sold mine to a Windows user.

There are no commercial drivers for the ACX100, but there is an open-source project that has a driver that works fairly well. Go to <http://acx100.sourceforge.net/>. The instructions in the download are fairly self-explanatory. Before you spend the money to get a new card, try this - the driver works well.
