Cannot connect to AP with Aironet 352 (PCMCIA) running FC4

in the past i was able to use the card if i had it pluged in while installing the OS. this time i just cannot get it to work. the first thing that is odd is the message
Code:
 #iwconfig eth1 essid ntd

Warning: Driver for device eth1 has been compiled with version 18
of Wireless Extension, while this program supports up to version 17.
Some things may be broken...
here is the rest of the output:
Code:
eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"ntd"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.442 GHz Access Point: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF

Rx invalid nwid:1356 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:8913 Missed beacon:0

wifi0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"ntd"

          Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm Sensitivity=0/65535
          Retry limit:16 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off

have you tried ifconfig eth1 up?
to be able to connect, your wireless device must be up. otherwise it cannot associate with the ap..

since my first post i was able to get the wifi card working after i added a line
Code:
alias eth1 airo_cs
to my /etc/modprobe.conf. if anyone else is having a similar problem with this hardware try looking into what worked for me. however you should probably first look into settings in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 and make sure that all is good there . for more info on all the settings and parameters check out /usr/share/doc/initscripts-*/sysconfig.txt.
