backtrack 2 - ath0 or wifi0


hey all

i recently installed backtrack 2. looks very usefull

i have pcmcia card, why is it ath0 and not wifi0?

ath0 is the normal interface.

wifi0 is a virtual interface.

You can create multiple virtual interfaces with the Atheros HAL/MadWiFi driver. Usage example: ath0 connection to your wireless LAN while a virtual interface in monitor mode runs Kismet to keep track of other networks.

im currently trying aircrack but i never used linux, so i still dont know much
