Any sites other than these for getting more current Linux distro VDIs??
To be used as testing and configuration purposes and possibly even for "bare metal" installs
I remember using some of those images from some of those sites. Generally they would built by some person and not the distro so some issue of security maybe.

Other advantages of downloading & using pre-made Linux distro VDIs for specific "testing purposes" vs full-blown ISOs (as either install or liveDVDs) are:
They're usually provided in zip format, which makes them download faster due to lower bandwidth
They're usually better tested to work in Vbox without all those post-install configuration steps we all love to do
I get it. I am only familiar with OSBoxes and would expect the VDIs or OVAs provided are at the whim of the people that run the website. Providing current images in a constantly changing environment would be a quite a task.
