Vista, vm on KVM without sound.

Hi folks,

KVM
host OS - Debian 5.0
vm - Vista Ultimate

I succeeded installing Vista Ultimate on a VM with following commands;
Code:
satimis@vm0:~$ sudo virt-install --connect qemu:///system -n vm26vista -r 1024 --vcpus=2 -f /home/satimis/VM/vm26vista.qcow2 -s 18 -c /dev/cdrom --vnc --noautoconsole --accelerate --network=bridge:br0 --hvm
Vista is running but without sound. I have been googling a while without result. Please advise. TIA

Try adding to the startup up command

Code:
-soundhw all
I use that for W2K and XP.

Hi Chuck56,

Thanks for your advice.

If I understand your advice correctly, create another Vista VM with "-soundhw all" option added?

Another question - Vista can't detect IPhone plugin automatically. But the host can detect it and mount it automatically. Is there an option on VM creation has this function? TIA

Hey I saw a solution to this problem today Just replace Realtek with your manufacturer Creative Labs. Let us know if the solution worked for you: http://[URL="http://www.noaudiooutput.com"]www.noaudiooutput.com[/URL]
