Transfer files between Virtual box and nomachine without router access
Background: I am a student and my school uses No Machine to allow us to upload/store our code and use school software. Most of the coding I do on my laptop in vim and use Virtual Box Arch Linux to make sure it compiles, etc. I used to just copy and paste or email the files to myself when trying to get them onto the school's system. But now that we are working with projects with multiple files, it's getting tedious. I have started using scp from the school's no machine and accessing my own computer via a dynamic dns service combined with port forwarding on my router. But this only works when I'm home and I want to send the files, which is rarely.
Question: Is there a way to get those files from one place to the other when I'm on a public network or one that doesn't allow me router access? I know I could just email (drag and drop is disabled) but I wasn't sure if linux had some sweet trick that would make the process simpler. I'm aware this question may be in the wrong place. If so, please let me know where I should direct my question. Thanks for reading!
update: I'm an idiot. Sorry. I found out just after I typed that up that my school's ssh server uses a different hostname. Go figure. So I can scp from my virtualbox terminal the normal way. Thanks anyway.
