qcow2 - backing file

Hello there!.

I have created base system (FedoraBase.img) which contains clean distibution. I'm using FedoraBase to create new guests in my system (FedoraBase.img is just backing file) and the data is growing in Fedora-guest-1.qcow2 file.

What will happen when if I remove or change (without removing snapshots) something in FedoraBase.img? Is there any way to fix it? Can I recreate this base img or restore data from Fedora-guest-1.qcow2?

according to: http://kashyapc.fedorapeople.org/vir...s-handout.html

[FedoraBase.img] ----- <- [Fedora-guest-1.qcow2]

Regards

if your VMs are based on a snapshot from the base image, you cannot change the image. If they are cloned off of that image then you can do whatever you want
