Preparing to test a broad array of cloud storage clients, what pre-reqs would be needed?
That title may seem a bit odd. What I'm trying to do is prepare a laptop for testing a lot of cloud services/clients, basically as I find them. I'd like to be able to just install the client and go, and not have to deal with hunting missed dependencies. So can anyone help me out with a list of dependencies that would generally be needed with most cloud services?
First, "cloud services/clients" needs to be defined... that could mean almost anything.
Dropbox is a "cloud service" and so is Amazon AWS, yet they are very different things.
Second, please ask about specific programs, not "what are the dependencies for MOST programs I'm thinking about installing".
We are not wizards here.
Sorry, cloud storage services, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, One cloud, etc. Sorry for the confusion.
As for specifics, I don't have them myself. As I don't know what thing's I'm going to come across along the way, I don't know which services I'll need to prepare for.
Ok here's a better question then I guess: How many cloud storage services can you list for me, and what are the dependencies for them? Still broad, I know, but that's as narrow as I can think to make it.
Most cloud storage services are not open source, so they provide a self contained binary (no dependencies).
I assume you are asking this for slackware, since debian provides dependency resolution.
Assuming (once more) that you have the latest 32bit version (Slackware 14.1) here are a few, from memory, to get you started:
As far as I know, there is no official google drive client for linux.
I'm also trying bittorrent-sync and, although I don't have a build script ready for public consumption, I'm liking it a lot
As far as google drive, I noticed a thirdparty thing for that, insync. It doesn't have an entry in slackbuilds, but you could probably get the source from somewhere on the site. Didn't look much into it yet.
