libvirt/kvm: Enter passphrase during guest startup using virsh start <domain>
Hi all,
I've just installed a virtual machine and have encrypted one of the VM's partitions (/dev/vdaX).
When this VM is started using the virt-manager the startup procedure is clearly visible (GUI) and at a certain point a pass-phrase is asked.
virsh start <domain> does start the domain, but the VM itself is (obviously) waiting until a pass-phrase is provided and thus never fully starts.
I was wondering if it is possible to not use the virt-manager, but virsh start <?option?> domain to start the VM and provide the pass-phrase (interactive/none-interactive).
A search came up empty (all related to encrypting a virtual machine’s disks, which is not what I'm after).
This is just me playing around. I do realize that encrypting the disk image used by the VM would be a better solution if this would be for real.
Just in case:
- Host: RHEL 6.1
- Guest: RHEL 6.1
- libvirt: 0.8.7
Thanks in advance!
