KVM resource requirement

hi,

when using linux KVM, we need to reserve resources (like cpu core, mac, disk partition etc) for host os?

if i have 4 core cpu and i am running 4 guest OS, with core pinning, which core kvm/host OS will run on?

Thanks.

A KVM guest is a process to the host OS. The host OS will use any CPU available to processes that are not pinned.

you definitely need to keep in mind that the host OS is using some resources. Normally, if all it does is hypervisor work, these resources are neglectible on large servers.
