Issue with loading kqemu module into linux kernel


Hi,
i have using QEMU.
i have downloaded kqemu-1.4.0pre1 and compile and installed correctly.
but when i want load kqemu.ko the following error displayed:
insmod: error inserting 'kqemu.ko': -1 Invalid module format

i have using Fedora12 with kernel 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.i686.PAE.

what is the problem?

thanx a lot.

'insmod' : A very basic tool, does not take care of dependencies.

The advanced command is 'modprobe'.

Please try # modprobe kqemu

..

i have tried modprobe command
but wont work and display same error:
FATAL: Error inserting kqemu (/lib/modules/2.6.31.5-127.fc12.i686.PAE/misc/kqemu.ko): Invalid module format

In general it will be because of version magic number differing . This will happen on inserting a module compiled on different machine and insmodding on different machine. If the above is not the case probably I have no clue .

I compiled module in same machine and with same kernel.

gazolinia is on the right track. You need to do a little more detective work on your setup. What is the most recent output from:

dmesg | grep kqemu

is there any mention of "version magic"?

the problem solved with installing kqemu from yum
yum install kqemu
it install new kernel 2.6.32.19-163
