Lightbulb hyperV and wsl S

Hey everyone!

I'm a beginner in Hyper-V and virtualization, but I'm familiar with WSL. I recently encountered a challenge:
writing a PowerShell script to enable both WSL and Hyper-V functionalities. Additionally, I have a custom Linux ISO that I'd like to run within a Hyper-V virtual machine launched from WSL, is it possible to create PowerShell script to enable both the functionalities along with the installation of a custom made Linux distro image onto WSL and hypervisor. thanks

Which distro will host this "WSL" guest? PowerShell and WSL are both Windows problems, so if you do go that route, you need to go ask over on one of the many, many Windows forums.

If, on the other hand, you wish to upgrade the host system to a GNU/Linux (Devuan or Linux Mint or Rocky Linux) or other Linux distro (such as Alpine) then you have much better possibilities and options for virtualization or even containers. For virtualization, Qemu and VirtualBox are quite useful and flexible. For containers, LXC is one way to go.

Which spin of Ubuntu, including version, are you running WSL on?

I have not heard of WSL on an Ubuntu host yet. The established best practices on an Ubuntu host are VirtualBox and Qemu.

Ok, if you're going to erase Windows 10 and install Ubuntu so that you can run VirtualBox or Qemu, we are here. Otherwise you are barking up the wrong tree. There are other forums for Windows support, not this one.

The initial questions are more correctly addressed to a Windows forum, but specific (WSL) Ubuntu queries are valid here.

WSL code was contributed by Canonical (the parent company of Ubuntu) as was the Ubuntu guest code. WSL 2 runs as a light-weight virtual guest - similar but less "sophisticated" than hyper-V from a virtualization perspective (my wording). I'm not sure either would support second level virtual guest (i.e. a guest initiating a different guest), but I'd doubt it.
Personal opinion only.

Feel free to post here in future.
