Can I use 64-bit Mint with VMware Player and Win8 64bit host with only 4gb ram?

Title says it all:

Can I use 64-bit Mint with VMware Player and Win8 64-bit host with only 4gb ram?

I ask because I imagine Win8 and Mint would be fighting for the low amount of ram, or the Mint might not even instal with the ram being used by Win8.

TIA.

Update: I found some ideas online. Seems to be working.

@OP: Can you provide details/links to your solution so that others can also benefit from it?

Mainly, Mint 64 bit only needs 1gb, unlike Win8, which needs 4gb.
