Xnest

I just wrote my first gdm theme and posted it on www.gnome-look.org (It's the "only" World of Warcraft GDM theme on the whole site) and I have a question. The screenshot currently packaged is not one of the actual login screen, just the background. I have installed Xnest, which I understand is for opening another X server in a window for purposes such as this (taking a screenshot) however when I run gdmxnest I get a window that remains black, and when I try running gdmxnestchooser I get a warning telling me indirect xdmcp is not enabled. Can somebody help me get this up and running?

bump bump, I've just done a complete OS re-install (hard drive got cluttered) and use KDE now instead of Gnome. I installed Xnest, and still, when I run Xnest :1 I get a window, but it remains black and empty.

Xnext just opens a nested X server, it won't open anything in it for you. Start Xnest like this and then run gdm on display :1,I don't use GDM so you'll need to check the man page or something to see the arguments to use.
Code:
Xnest -ac :1
gdm --display :1 # example
