xinerama+skype+???

interesting problem started happening to me recently
i decided to play around with my dual head setup in xinerama mode and then switched back to separate desktops, now for some reason skype will not launch unless i'm in xinerama mode
i am using an nvidia 8500 with the proprietary nvidia drivers

Are you going to make us guess if skype gives you an error? Either it does, you should let us know what the error it, or it doesn't and you should let us know that it doesn't :-)

So when you run 'skype' from a terminal, it immediately returns you to a prompt, but never starts skype and never shows an error?

If you hit the middle mouse button on your desktop to bring up the list of all active windows, does skype get listed?
