xine vs mplayer

Hey!

I have a little problem with xine.

When I try to play .mpg in xine I get an error (not with every file) telling me my system wolud be to slow (P4 3GHz) ... and xine hangs with a geen or black screen.

mplayer does its job like it should and play the file without lagging.

Can someone tell me how that comes? And how I can get rid of this xine-problem?

Greetings, Sascha

what version of xine-lib do you have installed? Try upgrading to newer versions of xine-lib and xine-ui.

Hi! Thanks for your answer.

How could I find out which version is installed? I have Slack 10.0 installed and not installed a newer xine by now.

Greetings, Sascha

you can use pkgtool. To upgrade packages, you can use a tool called swaret. Search on google for the homepage.

Hey there!

I installed the actual lib and ui packages. They were one number higher than the installed ones, I think.

Well, I didn't try every vid on my HD, but for all I tried the result was perfect :-) IT WORKS!

Thank you very much, some times it's so easy, ... and I simply don't getz it myself ... shame on me :-)

Bye...
