xfstt - not writing to font database

Hello all, I have installed the xfstt truetype server on my slack 8.1 box. Before I come to run it I do a xfstt --sync as per the instructions. Problem is that I then get:

xfstt: Cannot write to font database!
xfstt: Sync failed

I have my true type fonts in /usr/share/fonts/truetype where they are supposed to be.

Anyone have any ideas here? What and where is the "font database" if it's not the same place as where the ttf files are?
Sounds like it might be a permissions thing.

Thanks
Kevin

Fixed it

I did some googling and found a post that mentioned /var/cache/xfstt being required for the database. I checked and sure enough I didn't have it. Strangely not mentioned in the docs. Now it all works fine and X does look better for it I think.
