Hi,
You maybe need to just add index.php in the "DirectoryIndex" option in apache configuration file (httpd-xampp.conf) and restart apache.
Or else show us the output of the following commands:
Code:
ls -l /opt/lampp/htdocs
ls -l /opt/lampp/htdocs/phpmyadmin
I guess /opt/lampp/htdocs is the DocumentRoot for xampp. If not, change the path above accordingly.
Regards

It's because you probably didn't extract the archive to "/opt" directory but in your "
xampp "
so it's probably there
please post the output of
and use the # icon in your post to wrap the output in code format
[code] the text
[/code] (take a look
here for some examples)

Start Xampp and test it.
The Xampp website has a better description of how to do this than I could write:
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html#378

The file should be readable by the apache user. In a default installation this user is nobody, so run
Code:
chown nobody /opt/lampp/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php

The nice thing about Xampp is that, if something goes wrong or one misunderstands the directions or just hits the wrong key, one can simply delete /opt/lampp (after backing up any files in /opt/lampp/htdocs that need backed up) and try again.
That's one reason it's such a nice tool for testing.
