X problems in Slackware

I've just reinstalled Slack on my box and now when I issue the startx command it gives me this error message:

Fatal server error:
open_framebuffer: failed to open /dev/fb0 (No such device)

What's going on? I checked /dev and there is a fb0 item in there. What can I do to fix this?

hello,
I would guess that xfree86 needs to be set up again and/or the wrong driver is being loaded.

i have has this problem before after a fresh install of slackware in the past, usually by simply running the xf86config to configure X solves the problem.

Slack dosn't configure X during the install, you have to run xf86config post install.
