Hello All!

I am a new user on MandrakeLinux 10.1. Regarding the installtion of new program there are a few simple procedures to follow. unzip tar - configure, make and the other bits.

This manual process takes time which not all of us have.

I am proposing an idea. It involves creating a script out of Perl using OLE which would carry out these commands automaticlly without the user doing nothing more than simply executing the .pl file in the Shell.

First of all I reckon this is possible using a few lines of Perl in an editor like Vi/Vim 6.3.

I need some answers to these straight forward questions though,

Where is the source code for the Shell kept?
What language is it written in?
Is there a IDE/GUI for Perl programming anyone knows?

I would appreciate some feedback on this ( and let me know if anyone has written such a program).
