Running RH, I have AS 3.2 but also have tried Version 9 ?? (downloaded from linuxiso)
I am new to LINUX but have 4 or 5 years of basic UNIX experience.
I am trying to install Office 2K, the setup loads and then dies.
As I review the console it is complaining about missing "c:\windows\system\MSI.DLL" this is one of many errors, most others point to "x" and "Y" drives.
I checked the .config file, and it looks to have the correct entries (at least as far as I can tell)
None of the dirs. under .wine have any DLLs or any files for that matter.
Is this correct? Do I need to have a real windows 98 env. somewhere?
Please help, I must get off the MS platform but need to see how many programs I can get to work.
I am open to using other versions of Linux if anyone can suggest the best environment for running stuff like word, visio, etc.
WineX is a fork of the wine projekt targeted at runnig win32 games on linux,
this is different from getting office, explorer, or photoshop to run.
It is possible (has been done by others) to do this with plain wine,
if you want to spent a little bit of money,
you should look into codeweavers wine.
This is a wine fork, targetted at running office applikations,
including ms office 2003/xp, photoshop and a lot off other programms.
(even installs the windows media player if you want to)
