Wine and Jack

Let me preface this by saying I don't know the first thing about linux audio...

Little background...

I'm playing world of warcraft under wine 08302005 and it's working great except for the sound. I've been able to tweak the setting in the wow config file to make it work well enough to stand, but am interested in going a little further.

I noticed winecfg has an option to use Jack as a sound option. Not knowing anything about audio, i started reading a bit about jack and saw you can 'pipe' alsa through Jack..

My questions:

First is this worth doing or even trying, could I get any better sound performance? I just barely have a small concept of how all this works.

Secondly, if so, has anyone had any experience running wine with jack?

Thanks!
