WindowMaker don't save settings

My window maker (comppiled from sources) don't save settings (like apps in the dock) when i quit sessions. I have to run WPrefs as root to be able to save settings. I checked the box "save sessions on exit" and "automaticaly save session on exit".

I am looking to a vector linux apt-get like tool. I found a tool called "auto-pkg" or something similar but i couldnt find it in this version (4.0)

thx for any help
