WindowMaker don't save settings

My window maker (comppiled from sources) don't save settings (like apps in the dock) when i quit sessions. I have to run WPrefs as root to be able to save settings. I checked the box "save sessions on exit" and "automaticaly save session on exit".

I am looking to a vector linux apt-get like tool. I found a tool called "auto-pkg" or something similar but i couldnt find it in this version (4.0)

thx for any help

there is an option in the standard menu to save ur session b4 u exit, this will keep all the docs in place that u have arranged (thats how i always did it), does this fail too?

I have an option "Save session" in "command" submenu. But it doesnt work. Every time i start maker it loads the default settings : clip in uperleft corener, one workspace, xterm and WPrefs in the dock...

OK, i take it
I removed the GNUstep home directory and ran the script wmaker.inst again.
It seems to work fine

thx
