Try btdownloadcurses --url TheDiaryAliciaKeys(1).torrent I don't remember every putting quotes around the torrent file and you were missing a - in the -url.

Ahem --- per the LQ Rules which you agreed to abide by when you became a member, discussions about piracy, warez, unauthorized copying of copyrighted materials, etc, etc, is prohibited.

Sorry - but this request is not in compliance with the rules and thus I have no choice but to report it. -- J.W.

Dude, next time you need help with bittorrent, don't use the name of what you're downloading. And technically JW, depending what country he's in it might not be piracy. Just like it's not "illegal" for Canadians to download music cause we pay an extra 6% tax on blank CD's that goes straight to the music industry.

Yeah and don't forget the blank cassettes, VHS tapes, the proposed Hard Drive tax, memory sticks and damn near anything else they can rip us off for, I'm shocked we even get to breathe for free.

Yeah, and pretty much everyone that can distibute data like routers and certain types of internet connections. Don't get mad over it though, use the system to your advantage. Because of those taxes we can download songs and movies off of the internet, have whatever official moniters this crap come into your home and say "You have illegal content on your computer", and you can look them in the face and say "so?"

Works with software too. We're legally entitled to copying our software. You can legally buy software in most computer stores you can use to copy PC games. Always try to look on the bright side

I apoligize for making this a general discussion. I think what happy tux said was right. By typing "-url" instead of "--url" it thinks that you're typing "-u -r -l" and doesn't recognize one of the arguements. Give it another try, and be more careful next time.

kaega2 - As I stated previously, the reason I needed to comment was due to the fact that the original post ran contrary to the LQ Rules. Regardless what a particular post may be about, if it does not comply with one or more of the LQ Rules, we moderators need to step in. -- J.W.

The point that I'm making, not to say that it applies in this case, is that depending on what country he's in he may be allowed to download that file. Which means that it's not unauthorized or piracy.

What he's downloading looks to me like it's a song (I'm guessing cause it's Alicia Keys). If he's in Canada he's fully authorized to download that song onto his computer.

If I sound vulgar or insulting I don't mean to be. I'm just trying to make my point.
