Why is DVD not mounting - FC9

Dear Friends,

This is very peculiar.
I have a DVD which has my back up.
I have changed my PC, and installed FC9.
Now when I insert the DVD, it does not mount. I gives following messages.
Quote:
Unable to mount the volume XXX.
mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write protected,
mounting read-only
mount wrong fs type, bad option,
bad superblock on /dev/sr0, missing codepage or helper program or other error
When I give dmesg |tail
Quote:
cdrom: sr0: mrw address space DMA selected
ISOFS: Unable to identify CD-ROM format.
Surprisingly I can mount the DVD in my old PC ( from which this was created).

What is the reason friends.

I am not able to copy the back up.

Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

My best guess is that the DVD drive in your new PC doesn't "like" the brand of DVD blank you used to make your back-up. Do you have this problem with all DVDs or just that particular one? Do CDs mount? Also could you post the output of
Code:
cat /etc/fstab

You were right.
It was the DVD drive issue.
In fact the backup was taken on a DVD-WR disk. And the drive in the new computer was DVD-R. I changed the drive to DVD-writer, and I was through.

Thanks.
