which one is the reasonable download manager for linux?

hello linux community!

i've been using linux for a long time but i've never ever seen any download manager that download files properly.i've experiencd downloader for x in redhat 8.0 and also used KGet in FC3 but both download managers fail to download any file properly. They soon became stalled or download less than 1 KB.i dont want to used browser based download managers. One the other hand, Windows has a large verity.i'm using Internet Download Manager and it is superbe.better than DAP.but the question is where is the linux solution? I need a download manager that work not only on DSL, cable net, but also on Dialup connections.i've used the said linux download managers both on Dialup and cable net but all in vain.Is there some one with solution in the linux community

praying to GOD

Best Wishes for Linux Community

A little bit manual for some peoples' taste, though, it is quite handy: wget command really does the trick for me whenever I need some professional-feeling solution for web related stuff including even mirroring. I suggest you to have a look on man pages, hope you can find what you look for there.

I have been downloading stuff for many months using Firefox. I have yet to have any issues.
Are you concerned with what happens when connections are interrupted? What is the specific problem?

Slightly off topic: Using Linux as a tinkerer, developer, etc---ie anything other than routine work---without a high-speed connection is going to be tough. There are too many situations where you have to go on the net a fetch something.
