Question Where to install the boot loader?

I have Windows 98, Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP. I have read that with Windows NT I have to install my boot loader in the first sector of boot partition. Is that true? Or can I install it in the MBR? And how to uninstall it if it is in the first sector of boot partition in case it did not work?

2K & XP use NTFS most likely. You can't install anything on MBR. It'll render your Windows unbootable. Since when does XP let you write a boot floppy?

Your option is let XP take over the boot loader and write lilo to c:\

First, you have to tell us your HD configuration.

Install lilo on first Linux partition (root /), usually it's hda5. Let Windows instal its bootloader an then add Linux to it.

I have my 2K and XP on FAT 32, not NTFS.
And what do you mean by that: "Your option is let XP take over the boot loader and write lilo to c:\"? What do you mean by write lilo to c:\????

Mara:
How to add Linux to the windows bootloader?
