Question Where is my php.ini on Mandrake 9.1??

Hi there,

I want to adjust the settings in "php.ini" in MandrakeLinux (v 9.1). I’m having a problem with a PHPNuke (v 6.0) based website, and I think the settings in “php.ini” might be the cause (PHP v 4.3.1).

As far as I know "php.ini" should be in /etc, but it’s not. In fact, I can’t seem to find it anywhere on my system! PHP works fine, so there should be a “ini” file somewhere, somehow. What’s going on here? Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Arjan

What the above person suggested is a very helpful tool and I suggest you remember it.

updatedb updates the search database and will take a while, so to make it fork in to the background so you can do other tasks i'd suggest you type

updatedb &

Anyhow, I am pretty sure in mandrake the file is located in /etc/php.ini

Check and make sure with locate though ;]

Thanks a lot for your help,

As root, I ran “updatedb” and “locate php.ini”. I got these results:

[root@localhost /]# updatedb
[root@localhost /]# locate php.ini
/usr/share/doc/libphp_common430-430/php.ini-recommended
/usr/share/doc/libphp_common430-430/php.ini-dist

I manually checked etc/ . There's no php.ini in etc/, but there is a directory etc/php/ containing an additional .ini file for MySQL (34_mysql.ini).

I used the standard MandrakeLinux 9.1 cd's for installation of PHP (v 4.3.1), Apache (v 2.0.47), and MySQL (v 4.0.11a-gamma).

Could it be that PHP is initialized / configured by something other than the php.ini that should normally be in etc/ ? I must be overlooking something, but what?

Thanks again for any suggestions,
Arjan

I installed the php module for Apache:

apache2-mod_php-2.0.44_4.3.1-2mdk

Along with:

libphp_common430-430-11.1mdk

And:

php-mysql-4.3.0-2mdk

I have Mdk 10.0 with:
php-ini
depended on by:
apache2-mod_php
php-mysql
libphp_common

If you dont have php-ini then try looking in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ for a mod_php.conf file

Found it!

I edited etc/httpd/conf.d/mod_php.conf and the moderations work.

Thank you all for your replies!

Regards,
Arjan
