Where are the installation CD's installed?

I am trying to free up some space on my root partition, and I would like to remove the installation CD's. I unselected them as sources in control center, but I don't know where they are on the disk. How do I remove these and free up the space they currently occupy? Thanks.

I really don't think they are on your HD..

fdisk -l will show us how your drive is partiitoned, we may be able to make some suggestions with a little more info.

Here are the results of the fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 7013 56331891 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sda2 8487 14561 48797437+ 5 Extended
/dev/sda4 14562 14593 257040 88 Linux plaintext
/dev/sda5 8487 9250 6136798+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda6 9251 9390 1124518+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda7 9391 14561 41536026 83 Linux

During the installation it asked me if I wanted to copy the CD's to the disk, and I said yes. Are these removed after the installation? I have a 5GB root partition, and less than 700MB are left. Thanks for the help.

I'm not familiar with Mandriva, but if the "copy to hard drive" step actually copies the CD image to your hard drive, then you would be able to locate it based on its size. Just do a search for all files with a size of at least 100Mg or some similar large value. Presumably the file name would make it obvious that it's the CD image. That's just a guess though, as I say I'm not familiar with Mandriva
