I was wondering what I could do as far as the IR port goes? Is it just for receiving signals from like the $20 HP remote? or can I do something better. Also, if it is just receieving, is there a way to get a universal remote to work with this? Thanks
What you can do with it depends entirely on whether or not linux (read: LIRC) supports it. Best to do some homework or testing but if LIRC supports it then yeah, grab a cheap remote and start work on your lirc.conf and ~/.lircrc.
How can I figure out if my IR receiver is supported? I contacted HP for specific info on it, and they just said they make it, and it is designed for the remote they sell online.
