irc and newsgroups reign supreme over p2p virus spreaders.
Get involved with a group...work and learn your way to curry position and never again worry about your warez needs.
I may be way behind the times, but I had great success with the Gtk-Gnutella p2p client (http://gtk-gnutella.sourceforge.net/)-- more success with it than any client I ever tried under Windows.
Use Apollon + giFT + FastTrack plugin to connect to the Kazaa network (FastTrack). However, I must say FastTrack sucks nowadays ; lots of crap, corrupted files...etc. I second
the vote to go for amule or eDonkey. The download speeds won't be that fast at the beginning
as FastTrack, but the more you share and upload the faster your downloads will be. As for bittorrents clients, check out Azureus .

Get amule instead (make sure it is the cvs version - it's more stable) it has it's own GUI and will work with edonkey part files.
Ok as is usual and what cheeses me of is I followed the instructions for compiling i.e download to specific area but it would not let me do it. So I downloaded to a file amule on my desktop and extracted to downloaded tar ball in the same file as I couldn't extract to the specified file in the instructions.
I opened the newly created un tar'd file looking for the read me or install instructions but can't see any these are the only files I see
I download everything to a folder called Server (it's used as a share with my Windows machines). All of my Linux install files are then copied over to /home/david/RPMs. Assuming that bit is done, from the shell change directory to /home/david/RPMs and type:
"tar zxvf amule-cvs" (full name of file). Then change directory to that just created by tar; something like amule-cvs (make sure you download the cvs version). then type "./configure" followed by "make" followed by"make install" this will configure amule, compile it and finally install it. It will take ages. Forget about desktop or menu shortcuts, simply open the shell (or add it to your toolbar) and type amule. It will work from here, trust me.
but before I do that just to update I managed to find and install amule RPM and the other required files and ran cmd amule the gui started but I get this message.
16/02/05 19:00:54: No valid servers to connect in serverlist found
16/02/05 19:00:58: Failed to load creditfile

16/02/05 19:00:58: This is aMule 2.0.0rc8 using wxGTK1 v2.4.2 (based on eMule)
16/02/05 19:00:58: Visit http://www.amule.org to check if a new version is available.
I have got amule 2.0 0rc8 loaded which I believe is the most recent programe.
The latest version is the cvs version. The version you have is prone to exiting by itself, which is a bit of a pain if you try to leave it running overnight.
You need to start going to the amule website to get answers from here. A few quick pointers though: You need to allow firewall access to, at least, port 4662 and if using a router, create a DMZ to include that port. If you do not you will get a low "client ID" and therefore very slow download speeds. Typically, I get 25-35kbs Down for 15kbs up. Your results may be different. Get the cvs version and stick with amule, it works very well but can use a great deal of CPU time. It bogs this old system of mine down. I turn it off if I'm actually using the machine for anything else.
BTW, if you download the cvs version, it doesn't matter where you install it (it's a tar file), it will find your existing part files and run either from the shell or the menu shortcut you already have.
