Hello there Fellow Linux heads /devotees --using Puppy linux "slacko 5.4.2 " on my Linux box -<as of writng this letter>.

When ilog onto many websites I csannot get omto them -somelike "lack of Cypher connection error " message comes up --(I cannot even log onto Wikipedia!!!!! what gives with this StRange behavior??

coul;d it be my browser is out-dated?? <grrrwoonnnn> or most websites are made with a Windows / MAC compatible coding ,,therefore Linux Enabled browsers are out-of-the-loop for modern Coomunication ?? [ BTW my ISP provider is Spectrum /time warner]. adios ,chilibowl

Yes, your browser version could be outdated. tls versions < 1.1 are deprecated and both servers and browsers are starting to disable support for them. Since more sites automatically redirect to using https if your browser isn't capable of tls your going to see that error.

OK michaelk -what is TLS ?? I am kinds lost with that one <maybe its socket linkage?> Hmm is this similar to ssl??? BTW where could I find the specs in My software or browser for this ???

tls is just an updated version of ssl. I don't know maybe check what libraries your version is using?

In this instance as vulnerabilities are found new versions are released and the old old deprecated. To protect the user websites are only using https now days. If your browser isn't updated it will not be able to access them.

Now day it is expected that websites protect your personal information and are secured.

The web has always been free and useable...
