I don't quite get it, sorry . Well, how to do make Windows Explorer your file manager to browse all your directories?. You open it, then browse(?). If you don't know how to Konqueror it, open a terminal and type konqueror, that should do it...
Well, if you're using KDE, it should automatically open with Konqueror. If not, then whatever 'desktop' environment is doing your desktop icons, chooses which file manager.
For example, Nautilus (GNOME) will choose itself, and so will Rox-Filer, DFM, etc., XFCE chooses its own, and so on. Some will let you change the settings either for 'What program opens a folder' or maybe just they'll let you change the Home shortcut to open whatever file manager you choose. "konqueror /home/yourUserName/" should work.
yea im in gnome, i just hate how Nautilus doesn't have the address bar or back bottons i thought in older versions it did, well thx guys merry christmas

Not for sure if Konqueror can run in gnome. my be depended on libraries. I tried Naultius under KDE and it ran. In a terminal type ' konqueror --profile filemanagement ' and see if it works. If it does you can create a script and put that in it. Then paste the script on the desktop. Might be able to add it to your start menu. Not a Gnome expert here.
If you say you want to use Konqueror as your filemanager, then you have it installed and it works. If it works under one WM or even DE, it should work in any other as long as the libraries are installed, which, if you've used it, then they are.

I'ts still there in gnome 2.8 with nautilus 2.8.1 (FC3)
Just open a nautilus window, go to Edit ->Preferences. Go to the "Behavior" tab and choose the "Always Open in Browser Windows" check box. Close nautilus and open it back up, it should be back to the way i think you are talking about in the old versions, at least for me it is.
