I have tried one thing. If I rename vsftp.conf, and set up an edited copy I get the aforementioned message.
if I restore the unedited original, everything works fine.
Apparently a config file problem. Any suggestsions

I am having the same problem. Tried the same thing, replaced my conf file with the original, and it made no difference for me.
