I am using Gentoo 2005.0 and want to set up an FTP server on this box. I have installed VSFTPD and followed the docs to setup but I am stuck on 1 thing. I can connect to my ftp server, but I am unsure how to set up a user in order to login. I have tried several forums but no luck. Any ideas???
Is vsftpd even running? By default, any user that has a local account should be able to connect using their login and password. Do you have a firewall setup? If so, might want to make sure port 21 is open. Also try toggling passive ftp on and or off from the client end.
