VLC v0.8.2 on XandrOS 3, install?

I've been trying to install the latest VLC from the latest official source code. I've also tried Debian's apt-get (Xandros is Debian based) command, wich was somewhat successful. It says something about me not having all the compilers when I try to compile the source code. Check it out:
Quote:
Elias:~/vlc-0.8.2# ./configure
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.
Elias:~/vlc-0.8.2#
After that, I tried the apt-get command as instructed here:
Quote:
Vergil:~# apt-get update
Hit http://xnv3.xandros.com xandros3.0-xn/main Packages
Ign http://xnv3.xandros.com xandros3.0-xn/main Release
Hit http://xnv3.xandros.com xandros3.0-xn/contrib Packages

Reading Package Lists... Done
Vergil:~# apt-get install gnome-vlc libdvdcss2
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package gnome-vlc

So, I'm wondering if anyone could help me out? I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to command lines and stuff like that on Linux. All I want is to install the latest VLC on XandrOS.
