virtualbox on Debian 10

I have been using virtualbox from here:
https://people.debian.org/~lucas/virtualbox-buster/

it worked fine for a while, but now throws this error:
Code:
virtualbox : Depends: python3 (< 3.8) but 3.8.2-2 is to be installed
              Depends: libgsoap-2.8.75 but it is not installable
I do have newer versions of 'python3' and 'libgsoap'.
Why does latest virtualbox from the above site require these old ones?
I'd like to avoid compiling if possible.

why does package 'libgsoap-2.8.75' contain version in package name?

"solved" by moving to qemu. seems like the only long term solution, unfortunately.
