Very high number of open files in centos7/fedora23
I've noticed in recent distributions of the fedora based distributions the number of open files is very very much higher than in older ones such as centos 6.
On a basic install of centos7 I have around 60,000 open files, where as a basic install of centos6 I have 960.
If I start using the system, centos7 can shoot up to 200,000 - 300,000 very quickly.
Is this normal? Processes are still showing they have an open files limit in /proc of 1024, but seem to be completely ignoring it.
The reason I ask is a server application that works fine in centos6 with around 3000 open files seems to use about 600,000 in centos7 and keeps hitting "too many open files limit".
There doesn't seem to be anything about this difference online - surely a system shouldn't (or couldn't!) have 600,000 open files?!
