VCD Emulation

I use mplayer to watch vcds. Works great. However, I'd like to play ISO format VCD images on my harddrive without wasting blank disks. I tried passing -cdrom-device path/to/file.iso to mplayer vcd://, but, it complained about incorrect ioctl headers. I figured that since it's an iso9660 file system, it should still work.

Is there anyway to do this?

I guess you have to mount iso first. Take a look here:

Then try mplayer vcd://1 -cdrom-device /mnt/vcd.

Sorry, but that did not work.

I receive the same error from mplayer: read CDROM toc header: Inappropriate ioctl for device
