Using xmms to stream audio??

Hello all i wanted to run my radio station using Linux. The best way i can figure out how to do this is with xmms. I loaded all the drivers and liveice, etc... Then i run the shoutcast sc_serv, and it runs. When i go to xmms and configure liveice to the descriotion, and port, etc... I attempt to run it, shoutcast picks it up and gets ready to receive the music, but xmms freezes and just "hangs". If the port is set wrong it'll play fine but wont send to shoutcast sc_serv obviously. If anyone can help me with setting up my shoutcast stream on linux I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You
