Using Partioner on 2nd drive?

I'm trying to use YAST Partioner on my second drive... I just got a bigger hard drive. I set up the swap ok. What do I need to set the mount point to?

Thanks,
Tom

I'm not sure what you're asking for. Do you need to know what device name to use in the partitioner, or where you should mount the partitions after they are created?

The device name depends on the drive's location on the ide bus. The master device on ide0 is hda and the slave is hdb, ide1 has hdc and hdd, etc. Numbers specify the partitions on the device, hda1, hda2, etc.

After you finish partitioning, you can use "cat /proc/partitions" to get a list of all partitions available to your system. It won't tell you exactly which one is which, but you can probably figure it out pretty easily from there.

As to where to mount it, as long as it doesn't hold system files, you can put it just about anywhere you want. But most distros use the /mnt directory, which is there just for that purpose.

I know the device.. hdb. I put /tmp as the mount point, on the second hard drive which wasn't there at the moment, but when I rebooted it let me access that drive...

so I think it might be working.
